How to Link an External Account
Linking an external account allows you to transfer money between your Bank of Marin accounts and accounts you have at other banks. The process takes a few days but is straightforward.
Step 1: Add Your External Account
First, you’ll need to provide the account information:
-
Navigate to Account Services
Log into digital banking and find the Account Services section. -
Click “External Account – Add”
Select the option to add a new external account. -
Enter the account details
You’ll need to provide information about the external account, including:- Routing number
- Account number
- Account type (checking or savings)
- Nickname for the account (optional but helpful)
Step 2: Wait for Test Transactions
After you’ve entered the account information:
- Two small test transactions will be sent to the external account
- This typically takes 1-2 business days
- Check the external account for these deposits
Tip: The test amounts are usually very small (under $1) and will appear as deposits from Bank of Marin.
Step 3: Verify the Account
Once you see the test transactions:
-
Return to Account Services
Log back into your Bank of Marin digital banking. -
Click “External Account – Verify”
Select the verification option from the Account Services menu. -
Enter the test transaction amounts
Input the exact amounts of the two test deposits you received.
Once verified, your external account will be linked and ready to use for transfers!
